Home Maintenance Checklist for 2022

Resolutions For The Home

The new year has arrived and with it comes a fresh start. If you were unhappy with the comfort and functionality of your home last year, take the beginning of 2022 as a chance to make change and improve your quality of life.

AWS Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is here for you year-round with solutions to your plumbing and HVAC needs and we’ve put together a list of maintenance you should be getting done throughout 2022.

Upgrades

If you’re planning on upgrading your appliances sometime this year, why not do it sooner rather than later? Upgrading your furnace, air conditioner, washing machine, or water heater now will give you a great year of use from the start!

These upgrades will also increase efficiency, saving you energy and money, and will last through several more New Year’s Eve parties!

Routine Maintenance

It can be easy to forget about scheduling regular maintenance, especially when your systems seem to be working just fine. However, our experts recommend that you have your HVAC system serviced at least twice a year: once at the beginning of cooling season, and again at the beginning of heating season. This will set you and your unit up for a smooth and comfortable year.

Set a reminder in your phone or add it to the family calendar so you can remember to give AWS Plumbing, Heating & Cooling a call!

Batteries

Another essential home maintenance task is making sure the batteries on your detectors are fresh. These detectors, both smoke and carbon monoxide, can save your family and home, so keeping them functioning properly is essential.

A good way to remember to change those batteries is to do it during Daylight Saving Time when you change your clocks!

Water Heater Flushing

Over time, our water heaters will develop a build-up of minerals that can affect the performance of the unit. Having a trusted plumber flush the build-up out of your water heater will increase efficiency and leave you with better, cleaner, hotter water.

Air Filters

You’ll never see an HVAC technician tire of telling their customers to change their air filters. Air filters that become clogged over time can affect several other components of your HVAC system, eventually causing breakdowns. Change your air filters at least every three months to avoid these issues.
