5 Minute Tasks to Improve Your Indoor Air Quality

Increase Your Air Quality in No Time

Maintaining good indoor air quality is important for your health and the health of your family. Many people don't realize how easy it is to improve the air quality in their homes, and they often neglect to do anything about it.

The AWS Plumbing, Heating & Cooling team is here to help your whole family breathe easier with a few tasks that take less than five minutes to complete!

Cleaning & Dusting

Task number one is to wipe down your surfaces throughout your home. Windowsills, shelves, counters, and cupboards can collect a lot of dust and other allergens, which can then circulate through your home. Wiping these items down once a week with a damp cloth or duster will significantly help improve your air quality.

Vacuum

Task number two is to vacuum regularly. Like other surfaces in your home, your floors are a settling place for allergens that affect your air quality. Try to bring out the vacuum at least once a week for the best results.

Change Your Air Filters

Task number three is to change your air filters. These are attached to your HVAC system and are responsible for filtering pollutants from your home's air. Air filters should be changed at least once every three months to keep things fresh and clean. If you have pets or suffer from allergies, you may need to change your filters more often.

Open Your Windows

Task number four is to open your windows. It is easy for the air in your home to become stale and heavy. Opening your windows on a regular basis will help to ventilate your home and bring in the fresh air. If you have allergies, it's best to open your windows when the pollen count is low.

The next time you feel as though your home's air could use a refresh, try one or more of these 5-minute tasks to improve your air quality. If you’re in need of HVAC services, be sure to give AWS Plumbing, Heating & Cooling a call to schedule an appointment.
